Applications
Ground & Pavement Stabilisation
Almost every road constructed today incorporates a non-woven geotextile beneath the pavement structure to provide both separation and filtration functions. Water ingress is one of the primary causes of pavement deterioration, making effective drainage and the rapid removal of water critical to extending pavement life and reducing long-term maintenance costs.
Bidim non-woven geotextile acts as a separation layer between the underlying soft subgrade and the imported fill material, helping to prevent the migration of fines into the aggregate layer and maintaining the integrity and performance of the road structure over time.
Subsoil Drainage
Road edge drainage systems commonly incorporate geotextiles to support efficient water removal and long-term pavement performance. High flow capacity is essential to optimise system performance.

FUNCTION
Drainage
Geosynthetics can act as a drain to carry fluid through less permeable soils. Ideal for use in subsoil drainage systems, can be used to dissipate pore water pressures at the base of road and railway embankments, sports fields and behind retaining walls. Facilitates surface water runoff.
Filtration
Geosynthetics can act as a filter by allowing water to move freely through while preventing the migration of fine particles. Often used to prevent soils from migrating into drainage aggregate or pipes while maintaining flow. Can also prevent soil erosion in coastal and riverbanks when used below loose stones or rocks and other material.
Protection
Geosynthetics can prevent acute damage caused by adjacent materials. Often used together with a barrier to ensure that surrounding areas will not be contaminated. Widely used on landfills, tunnel construction and dams.
Separation
Geosynthetics can be used to prevent the intermixing of soil types of different sizes in the construction of roads, railways, and embankments where the ground is soft and unstable to maintain the integrity of each material while allowing free passage of liquids or gases. Using a layer of geotextile to separate the soft ground from the fill material reduces the amount of fill required, increases the lifespan of the road or rail structure and cuts long-term maintenance costs.
