Protecting structures located below ground level against the detrimental effect of ground water requires specialist solutions. Effective drainage behind buildings and structures is essential to provide long term stability by reducing hydrostatic pressure build up which would otherwise allow pressure build up behind the structure or encouraging moisture ingress into the structure. Flownet® biaxial drainage mesh is the ideal solution for applications requiring high flow capacity and ease of installation.
Flownet® is well suited to vertical or steep slope drainage applications where traditional granular drainage layers are difficult to construct. In many cases Flownet® will provide a cheaper solution than traditional granular drainage mediums.
Flownet® is a double layer drainage net manufactured from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). The three dimensional structure allows fast and efficient drainage of liquid and gas.
Flownet® can be supplied in three configurations (1) net alone, (2) bidim nonwoven geotextile bonded to one side and (3) bidim needle punched geotextile bonded to both sides. Heavier grades of geotextiles can be bonded to Flownet® on request.
Typical Flownet® Applications
Retaining walls
Flownet® composite drainage systems are designed for vertical applications where space is limited and high groundwater discharge is required. The thick flexible structure of Flownet® also provides protection to the structure from damage by backfill material.
Due to the structure of Flownet® which has equal flow performance along the roll as well as across the roll, it can be installed horizontally or vertically behind your structure. This allows the contractor to install Flownet® in a manner which suits their construction technique.
Gas collection in landfills
|
Over the past twenty years, the Flownet® geosynthetic drainage systems have established themselves as reliable alternatives to traditional granular systems in landfill operations. The long term performance required over the working life of the landfill can be verified by independent organizations and by strict quality control.
The compact Flownet® drainage material represents a real cost saving to contractors and clients in terms of low transportation and installation costs.

Roof top gardens
|
Incorporating vegetation in urban structures has become increasingly popular in recent years as they form a visually appealing break in the urban landscape, however drainage of these areas can be problematic. Inclusion of the light weight Flownet® composite drainage system in any roof top garden will ensure the water used to irrigate the gardens is removed from the system as quickly as possible and is not allowed to damage the adjacent structure.
