Geofabrics are able to provide comprehensive design suggestions for various applications pertaining to our woven mesh systems. From mass gravity
Gabion walls to
Gabion weir structures, we are able to provide preliminary stability analyses, typical sections and standard details. We can also assist in providing information pertaining to both product and installation specifications to aid in the compilation of tender documents.
Our long standing relationships with both Consulting Engineers and experienced contractors will ensure that our clients needs are met. Please contact us in this regard.
On-Site Installation Training
Geofabrics have taken a proactive stance with regard to on-site installation training to ensure that our products are installed as per our recommendations and clients expectations. We are also able to provide installation guidelines and diagrams to assist contractors in familiarizing themselves with the systems.

The construction of sample
Gabion units by the installer on site prior to commencement of the
Gabion works, is a good way of ensuring that quality is not compromised for the duration of the project. Once the sample
Gabion units have been approved by the Engineer and/or Client, the main works can go ahead.
Pneumatic Lacing Tool
These tools, which are available for hire from your local Geofabrics office, connect to a 100-105 psi (690-720 kPa) air compressor (supplied by others). They have been developed for use with Gabions, Reno® Mattresses, Terramesh™ and woven mesh rockfall drapery systems. They offer an alternative to standard hand lacing methods as detailed in ASTM A975 – 97 and are proven to almost halve the assembly time.
Lacing Rings (Hog Rings)

These high strength rings, which are sold by Geofabrics, are loaded into the pneumatic lacing tool and are deployed as fast as the trigger is pulled. They are used for both the assembly of individual units and connection between adjacent units. To meet the minimum strength requirements of wire mesh connections as specified in ASTM A975 – 97, the rings are spaced 10-15cm apart.
Two types of rings are available to meet the strength and durability requirements of the wire mesh used: for Galmac coated woven mesh products, Galmac coated rings are recommended and for Galmac + PVC coated woven mesh products, Stainless Steel rings are recommended.
Lacing Wire
Additional rolls of lacing wire can be purchased in 25kg coils, although all Gabions and Reno® Mattresses at time of purchase are supplied with wire to normally complete a standard lacing operation.
Preformed Bracing Wires
They are a major development in bracing Gabions i.e. connecting between the front and back of the Gabion facing. They are manufactured from 3.4mm core wire diameter and are available in Galmac or Galmac with PVC coating. The 1m long preformed bracing wires, which rapidly speed up the installation process and create a straight Gabion face, are available for purchase from Geofabrics. Four of these braces are recommended per square meter of face.
