Company Profile
Geofabrics Australasia Pty. Ltd. ("Geofabrics") is a private company that manufactures and distributes geosynthetic products and industrial/technical non-woven fabrics throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the South Pacific, Europe and South Africa. Products manufactured by Geofabrics and its subsidiaries include a range of spunbond non-woven continuous filament needle punched geotextiles, thermally bonded industrial fabrics, geosynthetic clay liners, and drainage products. Other products are purchased and distributed on a merchanted basis.
The company commenced business in Australia on 21st September, 1978. Until June 1987 the company acted solely as a distributor of the bidim® range of geotextiles in the Australasian market. In June 1987 Geofabrics commenced production of a factory site located in North Albury, N.S.W.
In mid 1994 Geofabrics expanded the range of geosynthetic products manufactured on this site to include Megaflo®, a flat pipe HDPE drainage system, and a limited range of corrugated single and dual wall HDPE pipes. Since that date various specialist drainage and filtration systems have been included in the product range.
In order to maintain its position as the most technologically advanced geosynthetic manufacturerer and supplier in the southern hemisphere, Geofabrics entered a joint venture with a ELCO Solutions (formally Soil Filters Australia) on the Gold Coast to manufacture specialist ELCOSEAL® Geosynthetic Clay Liners. Production of GCLs commenced in January 1996.
During 2004, the company completed a major expansion of its Albury plant in a move which included an increase in the width of its product to 6 metres. This increase was brought about by customer demands both locally and in the company's overseas markets.
Geofabrics and its subsidiaries currently employ some 150 personnel.
